D.O. Getariako Txakolina, Spain

Rezabal wines have two main ingredients: the style and integrity of Ander Rezabal, who gets the best of each harvest, highlighting and extolling the characteristics of the only two grape varieties used: Hondarribi Beltza for reds and Hondarribi Zuri, for white wines.
Husband and wife Mireya & Anders Rezabal founded this estate in their native Basque Country, on the coast of northern Spain, in 1996. It is the beautiful heritage of a family-owned project that started many generations ago. Located in Zarautz and belonging to PDO “Getariako Txakolina”, the couple has 15 hectares of traditionally high-trained vines, planted on slopes that are cooled by breezes from the Cantabrian sea.
The winery features the latest technology, while using mostly traditional methods. In short, the tradition of centuries preserves the characteristics of the product, and the technology improves its quality, in order to extract maximum wealth from these privileged grapes that have survived over time. Here, the vineyards breathe nitrates that feed a humid soil which exudes the fertility, quality and uniqueness of our Txakolis .
It is a proud feature being able to say that their progress has been made in sustainable viticulture to preserve and protect the environment around them. The vineyard is planted in a traditional high trellis system with two native varieties that define their Txakoli, Hondarribi-Zuri, a grape best described as lively, refreshing and fruity, and Hondarribi-beltza, a light, velvety and delicate white grape variety.
For all the dedication, love and affection that goes into this project, it can be said that aitona (grandfather) can rest assured because he knows that new prunings will come back, new strains will be planted, bunches will be collected and musts will continue flowing.
Both varieties benefit from the constant sea breeze blowing in the vineyard daily, bringing great freshness, salinity and acidity to those wines.
In a nutshell, the best word to describe Txakolí Rezabal, according to its winemakers, is ‘Cheerful’. Cheerful because it is fresh, light and easy: fresh in its aromatic profile, light in the mouth, and easy to drink on the glass.
Txakoli, naturally fizzy, is traditionally served poured from a height into the glass.
